Canada’s Tep No has bounced into 2021 with a laid back single in the form of ‘We Could Be Cool’. Led by soft-edged retro synths and a shuffling drum pattern, the piece is laid-back and ethereal. His falsetto vocal is airy and light, but works perfectly against the chunky basslines that only seems to expand over the course of the tune. He explains that “the song is about reflecting on the physical connection during the pandemic, and wondering if someone who we are friends with, lover, family, will still want to see us or if they’ve decided to move on.” Listen out for more from the singer-songwriter-producer over the course of the year. -Dan Peeke
